Junco, Dark-eyed

Dark-eyed Juncos are medium sized sparrows commonly seen in the winter on the ground foraging for food. The male has a slate gray head and white belly and the female is streaked with shades of brown and gray with a white belly, and of course they have dark eyes. Juncos travel in small flocks and will be attracted to your yard with bird seed. They can be seen in a rocking motion while scratching on the ground looking for seeds.
